While there are no studies that have directly compared the tolerability of Evenity to Prolia, both medications are well tolerated. Both also carry the serious risk of experiencing an allergic reaction and low calcium levels in the blood while taking the medications.

Evenity vs. Prolia: Is One More Effective Than the Other?
While few studies have compared the effectiveness of Evenity vs. Prolia, both medications are effective at treating osteoporosis.
One study compared the active ingredient of Evenity to Prolia in postmenopausal women. It showed that the active ingredient in Evenity showed a higher potential for improving bone mineral density when compared to the active ingredient for Prolia. Since there is limited data, more studies should be conducted to determine if one is more effective than the other.
It is also important to note that everyone responds differently to medications. Consider having a conversation with your healthcare provider to help decide which is the best medication for you.
Can You Switch Between Evenity and Prolia?
Since these medications act differently from one another, it is possible and could potentially be beneficial to switch from Evenity to Prolia and vice versa. However, switching from one medication to another medication will require careful monitoring and guidance from your healthcare provider.
Since low calcium in the blood is a serious side effect that can be experienced with both Evenity and Prolia, your healthcare provider will ask you to take calcium andvitamin D supplementsdaily to minimize this risk. This means even if you stop one medication and start another, you will still be required to take calcium and vitamin D supplements.
Have a discussion with your healthcare provider to determine if it would be beneficial to stop taking one medication and begin taking the other.
